**ANNOUNCEMENT**
Blackhouse Records, in some form or another, has been primarily an independent record label for over 20 years now. Emphasis on art has really been the primary focus. I’ve always been a big fan of visual arts, and have really tried to champion physical items (vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes mostly). Physical layout, composition, and construction holds a certain character and value. Over a year ago, we released a coffee-table style book by Chaz Bell, also known as the rapper/multi-instrumentalist Slug Christ. It was a milestone moment for both artist and label. It was the most fun I’ve had releasing anything on this label in the last 20 years. Being a fan of exhibiting visual arts by way of book presentation, I’ve had a plan to bring more projects like this to light.
I’m excited to announce that starting in 2023, Blackhouse Limited will be starting a formal book division. Our aim is releasing high-quality limited edition art books by underground artists from around the world. The plan is to showcase the subversive, the obscure, and the avant-garde from some of the most creative minds alive. We have a handful of projects in the works for 2023, and I can’t wait to start announcing these works.
I took the word “Records” off the updated Blackhouse logo a couple of years ago because this transition has been in the works for a long time. That being said, Blackhouse is no longer JUST a record label. As of today, it is simply “Blackhouse Ltd.” We will absolutely continue to release records by a wide array of musicians and bands, and we have some amazing records slated for next year as well.
Thanks for your support over the last 20+ years. We can’t wait to show you all what’s in store for 2023. –Scott / BH Ltd.
